American politics and the Vietnam War.American politics are broadly Democrats = left and Republicans = right. The history of the war is fairly clear, the Democrats sent the troops in and the Republicans pulled the troops out. Critical knowledge to any understanding of American politics - the left blames the right for fighting the war and the right blames the left for losing the war.
